Literature Text

He is leagues ahead of her, and
I'm sorry but I don't think her star ship
can warp fast enough to catch up to him.
He is made of poetry and good intentions
(so it seems)
while she can't even tell anyone her own
name without her mother leaning over her
shoulder to tell them better
and then describe
in three sentences what she is.

This is my daughter, Jenny.
She likes to be called Jay.
She's depressed and has anxiety,
so maybe don't talk to her too much;
you may make her nervous.

He would have to stoop low to
reach her self-esteem and I don't
think any boy wants to go to that trouble.
Who would fall in love with a girl
who is still addicted to suicide notes
written in lines of three with syllables
5-7-5?
Who would fall in love with the three digits
that girl sees flashing in front of her food
before every meal that she may or may not
skip.

She blushes for long minutes
after kisses while he's certainly
done the do.
She's asexual.
She doesn't even know if she's aromantic
or not so don't be surprised if
she dumps you with no other reason than,
"I can't do this I'm so scared so scared
I am not ready for you or for anything"

She is afraid of everything but
do you remember how she still got the
courage to attempt to express her
adoration for your words?
She does.  She remembers how
she stuttered and you listened patiently
and smiled and asked her name and thanked her
and she remembers how her heart hammered so
loud she was sure you would think
someone was playing drums nearby.
She knows she is in love with your
poetry but she can't say if she is in love with
you.
dang, son.  Michael's poetry is just so gorgeous; mine doesn't even compare but lol w/e I bet I can read fanfiction better than he ever could //rolls away through a field of gay flowers
